25 weeks

Best moment of the week:  Seeing our sweet, smiley baby boy, of course!
Baby bump status:  Maternity shirts that once hung from my body are now starting to slightly hug my belly.  In tight shirts, I look a bit pregnant, but in the loose shirts I most often wear, I don’t.
Baby weighs as much as: A rutabaga
Total weight gain:  14.4 pounds (change from last week: +1.4).  I crossed into some digits on the scale this week that I’ve never seen before.  Eek!
Days until due date:  105
New or unusual this week:  I’ve been avoiding talking to my boss about my plans for maternity leave and beyond.  I finally did that this week, which was a big deal for me.  My boss wanted some time to consider my plan, and we’re supposed to talk again this week.  I will announce my plans once they are finalized.
Today, there was a baby expo in our town, so we went and got several free samples.  I love free stuff!
Symptoms:  I’ve starting suffering from dry eyes, and sitting in front of the computer all day at work doesn’t help.  One day this week, I had a really hard time sitting all day.  My rear end was hurting, and I kept having to stand up and stretch.
Baby’s movement:  Baby D moves a lot now.  In the last week or two, he’s really started doing more fluttering and rolling movements instead of just single kicks and punches.  His movements now often affect whole quadrants or half of my belly.  It’s really hard to figure out what he’s doing in there.  Usually, I only feel him when I’m sitting or lying down, but I actually felt him moving around during yoga this week.
Looking forward to:  We have our first class at the hospital this week; it’s a breastfeeding class.  Himal’s mom is throwing us a shower this weekend, so we’re really looking forward to seeing family and friends and celebrating our Little Man.
Gifts this week:  Little Man got his first registry gift in the mail, so that was exciting.  It was his sleep sound machine, so now he will be able to sleep peacefully.
Purchases this week:  We practiced self-control and didn’t buy Baby D anything this week in anticipation of his shower.
Dissertation update:  This is a new section that was suggested by my friend Alexa.  Here, I will be updating my progress on my dissertation each week with the hope that it will motivate me to work on it so that I’ll have something to report.  The countdown to Little Man’s arrival is stressing me out – not because I am stressed about him joining the family but because I know that I need to get my dissertation completed before that time.
This week, I went to work on Saturday and
  • Separated my aim 1 and aim 2 variables
  • Researched how to detect multicollinearity
  • Tried to find a SAS macro to detect collinearity
  • Took a step towards moving my aim 3 data collection forward.
